Shooting in Montevideo's Nuevo Ellauri Neighborhood Injures Man and Girl

A shooting in a quiet neighborhood left two people injured, including a 12-year-old girl. The attack happened on Tuesday morning in the Nuevo Ellauri area of Montevideo.

The girl was hit in the lower back and taken to a local clinic for treatment. News Agency reports that she had an entry wound but no exit wound. A neighbor drove her to the hospital.

A 34-year-old man was also shot and taken to a different hospital by another bystander. His injuries are not yet known.

The girl’s father and her friend were in the car when it was attacked, but they were not hurt. The car, a red Suzuki Swift, was left at the scene with multiple bullet holes. Witnesses heard a burst of gunfire.

Two men on a motorcycle were seen fleeing the area.

A short while later, police found a machine gun, three pistols, and drugs about 10 blocks away from the crime scene. They think this discovery might be connected to the shooting.

This attack comes after a similar incident in a nearby neighborhood the night before. A 43-year-old man was killed, and his two children, ages 12 and 15, were injured in a shooting at their home. News Agency reported on this incident as well.
