Search for Child Loan Danilo Peña Intensifies in Argentina
More than 15 days after the disappearance of five-year-old Loan Danilo Peña, the investigation has taken a tragic turn. According to a statement from Laudelina, Loan’s aunt, the child was run over and killed in Corrientes, Argentina.
Provincial Prosecutor Confirms Accident Hypothesis
Laudelina gave a six-hour statement to the provincial prosecutor, confirming the theory that an accident involving a Ford Ranger truck, owned by former municipal official María Victoria Caillava and former military man Carlos Pérez, led to Loan’s death.
Suspicious Behavior from Suspects
According to Laudelina, the couple allegedly told her not to speak or mention the incident to her brother, José. They claimed to be taking Loan to the hospital, but instead, they took him to the home of Catalina, Loan’s grandmother, and gave her one of Loan’s shoes so that the commissioner could put it on her.
Wife of Arrested Suspect to Testify
The wife of Antonio Benítez, one of those arrested in connection with Loan’s disappearance, must now reaffirm her version of events before federal Justice. She previously testified before the provincial prosecutor.
Authorities Continue Investigation
The authorities continue to investigate Loan’s disappearance, with six people arrested and the possibility of a child trafficking network that may have kidnapped Loan to Paraguay or Uruguay.
