Former Pakistan Cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has given an answer to Virender Sehwag on the question raised about his bowling action. He has said that if Sehwag knows more than ICC, then he has the right to express his opinion. Significantly, during a conversation, Sehwag questioned Shoaib Akhtar’s bowling action. He had said that Shoaib used to shake his elbow while he bowled.
On this statement by Sehwag, Shoaib Akhtar while speaking to a sports website said: ‘I would ask Sehwag not to make such statements. However, if he knows more than the ICC, then he has the right to say what he thinks. My statement will be the complete opposite of Sehwag’s. I think he has been the best match-winning player India has ever had. He has been the best of all the starters who have played for India so far. I would not like to make such a statement or insult any player who has played at the national level. Akhtar also says that he has not seen Sehwag’s interview. That’s why they don’t know if Sehwag made this statement jokingly or seriously.
Sehwag had said: ‘Shoaib knew that he shakes his elbow. He knew he was shooting too. Otherwise why would ICC have banned it? If Brett Lee’s hand went straight down, it was easy to guess the ball. But in Shoaib’s case, you couldn’t tell where the hand was coming from and where the ball was coming from.
Sehwag is also seen saying, ‘I wasn’t afraid to take on Brett Lee but Shoaib… I couldn’t trust him. I used to think if he hit it twice, he could throw Beamer and Yorker on the next ball.
