The Multan Sultans franchise underwent a massive corporate restructuring this month. The team narrowly avoided a permanent relocation and rebrand as the Sialkot Stallionz. CD Ventures acquired the distressed sports property in early March 2026. They immediately restored the Sultans identity. Now, the new management has finalized its leadership group just days before the Pakistan Super League 11 season begins. Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood is officially the vice-captain of the Multan Sultans.
The franchise confirmed the appointment on March 24 through a public video tribute on X. Masood is back where his T20 leadership profile peaked. He previously captained Multan during the 2020 PSL campaign. He led that squad to the playoffs as the tournament’s table-toppers. He stayed with the franchise until 2023. A stint with the Karachi Kings followed. Masood took the Kings to a fifth-place finish in 2024. Karachi replaced him with David Warner for PSL 10. The Kings then released Masood ahead of the historic 2026 player auction.
The Sultans desperately need local stability. Highly successful former captain Mohammad Rizwan departed for the newly formed Rawalpindiz franchise. Multan’s new front office handed the captaincy to Australian veteran Ashton Turner on March 16. Turner brings overseas tactical experience. Masood brings the domestic anchor. Masood’s historical production in a Sultans shirt is explicitly verified in the league archives. During the 2022 PSL season with Multan, he accumulated 478 runs across 12 matches. He maintained an average of 39.83 and posted 54 fours.
PSL 11 runs from March 26 to May 3, 2026. The turnaround time for the CD Ventures ownership group is exceptionally tight. They bought the team, killed the Sialkot rebrand, hired an Australian captain, and brought back a former franchise face in under three weeks. The roster is set. The Sultans begin their 2026 campaign this week.
