Shaheen Afridi Asian Cup: India has to play the next international series against Zimbabwe on their own soil, but big news is coming for the India team from Pakistan. Pakistan has suffered a major setback ahead of the 2022 Asia Cup which can be a huge advantage for India. India and Pakistan have to play their first match against each other in the Asian Cup. According to reports coming from the Pakistan Cricket Board, their team’s most important weapon may remain off the pitch in this big match. Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Afridi looks tough to play in the match against India.

Although Pakistan had been silent on the issue of Shaheen Afridi’s injury for a long time, but when the Asian Cup came to an end, they had to clarify the picture due to media pressure. The Pakistani fast bowler was not even able to play in the second match of the Test series against Sri Lanka. Pakistan have to play a series of three ODIs in the Netherlands tour before the Asian Cup, but they are not scheduled to play there as well.

Before leaving for the Netherlands tour, captain Babar Azam said that Shaheen Afridi will accompany him on this tour so that he can be under the supervision of team doctors. His decision to play there will depend on his physical condition. Babar said that he does not want to take any risk considering that the big tournament like the Asian Cup will start in a few days and the T20 World Cup will take place later.

If Shaheen Afridi, who is battling injury, is not fit in time, this can be a huge relief for the India team. At the T20 World Cup held in the United Arab Emirates last year, this Pakistani bowler single-handedly topped the entire top order of the India team. India was defeated by 10 wickets in this match.

The Asian Cup begins on August 27 in the United Arab Emirates. The biggest match of the tournament will be played between Arch Rivals India and Pakistan on August 28.
