Severe cold wave in Afghanistan, 166 people died

The number of people killed in Afghanistan this month due to severe cold wave has reached 166.

According to the report of Afghan Disaster Management, 166 people died in severe cold weather in Afghanistan, while extreme conditions have heaped misery on the poverty-stricken country.

Disaster Management says that 24 out of 34 provinces have reported deaths based on the data, while the temperature has dropped to minus 33 degrees since January 10.

The aid agency says that more than half of the 38 million people are suffering from hunger.

According to the report of aid agencies, about four million children are suffering from malnutrition in Afghanistan, while the number of animals killed due to cold has exceeded 80 thousand.

Residents of the area say that children wake up at night with cold and cry till morning. They are all sick and we often have less bread to eat.’

It should be remembered that during his visit to Kabul this week, Martin Griffiths, the head of the United Nations aid agency, said that the international organization is demanding an exemption from the ban on most women aid workers.
