Despite England’s dismal performance in the Ashes series, English fast bowler James Anderson has won the Test standings. It has rejoined the top-5. Scott Boland from Australia, who made his Boxing Day Test debut, has also had a solid entry into the Test rankings.
In the Boxing Day test, James Anderson took 4 of 33 in Australia’s first innings. He had raised hopes of a return to England by taking the fields of first-rate hitters David Warner, Steve Smith and Marcus Harris. It also broke the long association between Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc. He has benefited from this wonderful performance in the test rankings. It has jumped 3 positions.
New Australian sensation Scott Boland has made his direct debut at number 74 in the ICC test rankings. In his first test match, Boland sent 6 English batters to the pavilion for just 7 runs. He was also the man of the match.
Australia’s test captain Pat Cummins is at the top of the bowling rankings. Following him, R Ashwin, Shaheen Afridi from Pakistan and Team Saudi have retained their respective places. Not much has changed on the top 10 off-roader list, either. Ben Stokes and Mitchell Starc have taken positions on each other. On the other hand, Colin de Grandhomme has improved a place to break into the top-10.
