Santi Cazorla nears recovery in final training phase for Real Oviedo

The setting of Santi Cazorla reaches his last phase

Santi Cazorla is now training alone, signaling the final phase of his setup that began two weeks ago. His goal is to reach the end of the season in the best possible condition. As he noted, “I’ve spoken to the coaching staff and doctors, I want to be fine to help the team, and the important thing is the end of the season. I want to get well physically because I already forced myself too much last year.” This sentiment echoes his determination to contribute to the team’s success, especially considering he turned 40 in December.

On Wednesday morning, while the first team trained under Javi Calleja’s orders, Cazorla exercised alongside Paulino de la Fuente, the other injured player from the team. It was clear that both players were increasing the intensity of their training and are very close to joining the group dynamics. As Cazorla emphasized, “I want to be fine to help the team and the important thing is the end of the season. I want to get well physically because I already forced too much last year.”

Cazorla last played in early January during the match against Eldense in Carlos Tartiere. Before that game, he was sidelined for six days due to a muscle injury in his twin. Despite this setback, his contributions to Real Oviedo have been significant, particularly during the first round of the Second Division league championship.

16 Title Games

During the first round, Cazorla was instrumental in Real Oviedo’s performance, starting in 16 games, scoring a goal, and providing four assists. Only Santiago Colombatto played more minutes than Cazorla in the center of the team. Real Oviedo, who won last Saturday in Burgos and currently has 50 points, has not lost a game so far in 2025. This Sunday, they will host Deportivo de la Coruña at 16:15 hours, a match that could further solidify their position in the category. With Cazorla nearing his return to full fitness, the team’s prospects look promising, and his experience will undoubtedly be a valuable asset in the remaining games.
