Sánchez Ramírez Province is crowned champion in U 12 baseball tournament

Sánchez Ramírez’s team prevailed in the grand final of the “IV Robinson Canó U12 National Cup”, organized by the Dominican Baseball Federation Inc. (Fedom), beating the San Cristóbal team 12-10, to proclaim themselves the monarchs undefeated from the competition this Wednesday, January 25 at the La Liga de La Farándula Stadium.

Sánchez Ramírez and San Cristóbal arrived at the match as leaders of their respective groups with (4-0), but the duel was won by the Cibaeño team, leaving the South team with the silver medal.

The bronze medal went to Santiago who beat Valverde province 14 runs to 9.

“I feel very happy and satisfied, the eight teams that participated from the beginning are all champions, a great job by the Sánchez Ramírez team that was proclaimed champion and represented the entire Cibao region with gallantry, congratulations to San Cristóbal for the medal silver and Santiago for bronze”, commented Juan Núñez, president of Fedom.

“I congratulate the entire leadership of the country, we have all won, without a doubt this is the best little league tournament that has been held in the Dominican Republic at all times and this is an achievement for all of us,” said Núñez.

Jefferson Guzmán, the third on Sánchez Ramírez’s team, entered the relief role, won the match, and took home the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, when the 11-year-old player received the distinction, thanked to his family and coaches for taking him as a reinforcement of his zone and allowing him to be part of the team.

While Rafael Veloz, with a 5-0 mark, was left with the award for the winning manager.

Since last January 21, eight teams began the battle for the crown, from this event will come the pre-selection and the national team of the Dominican Republic team that will be participating in the U12 Pre-World Championship to be held in 2023 between the months of April and May in Mexico.

The artists Eddy Herrera and Niní Cáffaro were responsible for delivering the trophies to the individual leaders.

Juanyer Herrera from the San Cristóbal team took the batting lead (.1000) went 8-8, also the RBI with (7), the leader in singles with (8) and the fourth individual award was the home run with (2).

Andry De La Cruz from Sánchez Ramírez, was the leader in runs scored (6), Yadiel Núñez from Santo Domingo, was the leader in doubles (3), with five (5) cheated bases, the award went to Andel García from La Romana, in triples with one, the distinction went to Yunior Florían from Bahoruco, also the strikeout lead (10) went to Bahoruco in the hands of Juan Manuel Díaz and the leader in wins and losses was the pitcher from Santo Domingo, Anderson Santana.

Base), Andrés González, San Cristóbal (shortstop), the outfielders are led by Saulin Corporán from San Pedro de Macorís (LF), Leonardo Florentino, San Cristóbal (CF), Julio Sebastián Ramos from Santo Domingo (RF), the ideal ninth is completed by Michael Martínez, Santo Domingo (receiver) and the pitcher, Joshua Tomas from San Cristobal.

Prior to the start of the event, the launch of honor was in charge of Niní Cáffaro, to whom a special mention is made in the event, the designated hitter was Mrs. Raysa de La Cruz, finance secretary of the Florida Filial Fedom Baseball Association , and the honorable Deputy of the Province of Sánchez Ramírez, Dr. Sadoky Duarte Suárez, was the recipient.

The IV Robinson Canó U12 National Cup, dedicated to the former Minister of Sports and current Dominican consul in San Juan, Puerto Rico, César Cedeño, had the support of the Dominican team for the 2023 World Baseball Classic, as part of its social work, the Participating teams used the services of the Metropolitan Bus Services Office (OMSA), and the food was provided by the Economic Kitchens of the Dominican State (CDEE).
