The Barriga Verde San Juan team was proclaimed champion of the first version of the National Development League of the Southern Region U22, organized by the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal).
San Juan defeated Caciques de Independencia 86-74 in the final game for the crown of champion of the South Region U22, played at the sports center of the province of Azua where the Barriga Verde San Juan Basket Club played as the home team.
The Barriga Verde squad won the INAPA Cup (National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewage), an entity that sponsored the sports fair with the support of its owner Wellington Arnaud.
The champion leader was Amado Guillén, assisted by Víctor Rosario and Orlando Paulino. Player Paul Paniagua put on the hero’s cape in the sanjuanera offense by scoring 27 points in 27:10 minutes and was elected the Most Valuable Player of the final round.
Paniagua was seconded by Jimmy Méndez with a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Derek Tapia stood out for the losers with 16 points, seven rebounds and five ball passes; while Jonathan Armaut scored 15 units and took eight balls.
