Samsung Galaxy Watch4/Watch5: Wrist lift gesture stopped working for some users

Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 are some of the best smartwatches for Android users but some users are experimenting problems with “raise wrist to wake up” gesturethat doesn’t work properly.

The function allows, once activated, we can turns on the watch screen when we lift the wrist where we use it to see the time.

However, for some Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch5 owners, the “lift wrist to wake” gesture causes the watch to immediately lock and return to sleep mode.

Technically speaking, the watch should always go into sleep right after activating the wake-to-wake gesture if the user doesn’t interact with the screen, but now it’s happening right away.

The issue has been reported by multiple Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 4 owners on Reddit as well as on samsung support forums. One user recorded the issue on video.

It is unclear if Samsung is aware of the issue as the company has not made any official comment. It doesn’t seem to be a very widespread problem either, but it is affecting some people.
