norwegian tennis player Casper Ruud repeated the title this Saturday at the Geneva tournament, after beating Portuguese Joao Sousa in the final (7-6 (3), 4-6, 7-6 (1))while the British Cameron Norrie won the ATP event in Lyon against the Slovakian Alex Molcan (6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-1).
Ruud won his second title of the season on Swiss soil, then come back from 4-5 in the third set. The 23-year-old Norwegian raised the eighth title of his record to reach Roland Garros as one of the candidates to surprise.
Norrie, another tennis player who can go far in Paris, will also go to the second ‘Grand Slam’ of the season. Norrie, who dropped two match points in the second set, rallied in the third to also claim his second title in 2022 and his fourth of his career.
Also, on the WTA circuit, former world number one Angelique Kerber won the Strasbourg title after a final of more than three hours against Slovenian Kaja Juvan 7-6(5), 6-7(0), 7- 6(5). Meanwhile, the Italian Martina Trevisan premiered her record with her title in Rabat, against the American Claire Liu (6-2, 6-1)
