Russia says it is forced to cut off electricity supplies starting today.
Russia is unable to pay for electricity imported from Russia, according to the Finnish-based RAO subsidiary.
Fingard’s vice-president, Rima Poinen, said there was no threat to Finland’s abundant electricity supply, adding that Russia’s electricity consumption was only 10% of Finland’s total consumption.
He said the low supply could be offset by rising imports from Sweden as well as partly domestic production.
