José Ramírez had four more hits, while Steve Kwan dove for the ball in the seventh inning, preserving the Cleveland Guardians’ 7-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday.
Cleveland got its 12th win in 15 games.
Josh Naylor had the go-ahead double in the fifth, and Amed Rosario added four hits, including his first home run, as the Indians (31-27) moved four games over the .500 mark, their best campaign record.
Kwan pinch hit for Óscar Mercado in the fifth inning. The Colombian Mercado had just released a fly ball to enter a run.
The Guardians were holding on to a 6-5 lead with runners on the corners and two outs. Kwan ran to his right in search of the line that came off the bat of Cuban José Iglesias.
With his whole body extended, he cast to catch the ball in the warning strip.
Bryan Shaw (3-0) pitched the eighth inning scoreless. Dominican Emmanuel Clase worked in the ninth and reached 13 saves.
