Roglic returns to the roads after his shoulder operation

Primoz Roglic gets back on the bike after abruptly ending his 2022 season after the fall he suffered during the last Tour of Spain on the day of Tomares, when he was in full battle for the red jersey with Remco Evenepoel.

In an interview with WielerFlits Roglic confessed how this recovery has been after the shoulder operation he underwent eight weeks ago. “I hope to continue training gradually. Eight weeks have passed since my shoulder operation. I am improving little by little but recovering will take time. They took part of the bone from me and put it in my shoulder. After the operation I could barely move my arm and I still can’t straighten it out completely.”

Roglic also assures that during these weeks he has continued training on an exercise bike before receiving the go-ahead to return to rolling on the road. “It’s a good thing I’m not a swimmer, because an operation like this would have affected me even more. In the last few weeks I have ridden on an exercise bike for an hour and last week the doctors did a scan and gave me permission to ride back on the road.

However, Roglic admits that so much time away from the bike can take its toll, although he has been able to take advantage of this time to be with his family and warns that he hopes to be back at his best level in the concentration that the Jumbo-Visma will take place in January. “It has been difficult because I have spent a period of three months in which I have not been able to work on my physique. I have had to rest for my body to fully recover. That break gave me a lot of time to spend with my foundation and doing events. The five or six hours that I usually shoot I used for other purposes and I also spent a lot of time with my family. But not being able to ride a bike for three months is a long time. I hope to compete well again in the second training camp of the team in January”.
