They freed the child’s finger from the robot but could not save it from fracture.
Sergei Simgin, vice president of the Russian Chess Federation, said the robot was about to defeat the boy in the game, but instead of waiting for the robot to make a move, the boy immediately made a move.
He said there are some safety rules and the child apparently violated them, not realizing he had to wait first when he made his move.
