Roberto Nieves leads after third round of the Latin America Amateur Championship

Puerto Rican Roberto Nieves continues to give a demonstration of good golf and with a round of 70 strokes to total -7, the Puerto Rican is at the top of the board after three rounds of the Latin America Amateur Championship (LAAC) played at the Teeth of the Dog from Casa de Campo.

At the rate of five birdies and three bogeys, Nieves looks in total control of his game and enters the final round as one of the great favorites of the tournament.

Fred Biondi (Brazil follows closely, one stroke behind, and in third place are Segundo Oliva Pintos, Vicente Marzilio and Santiago de la Fuente with -5.

The leader of the second round, Julián Perico, had a disastrous game that included two birdies, 4 bogeys and 3 double bogeys (80), a score that placed him in eleventh place.

The defending champion, the Argentine Abel Gallegos also had a day to forget finishing with 78 strokes, and appears in 17th place.

For the Dominicans, Juan Cayro Delgado once again demonstrated his great worth and with an impeccable round of 4 birdies and no errors, he finished with 68 shots and placed 14th (even par). Rhadamés Peña scored 74 and is ranked 30th, Enrique Valverde went to the showers with 75 hits (ranked 36th), and Julio Rios with 78 hits is ranked 48th.

The starting times and holes for the final round for the criollos are as follows: Rhadamés Peña, hole 10, 7:51, Enrique Valverde, hole 10, 8:13, Juan Cayro Delgado, hole 1, 8:24, and Julio Rios, hole 10, 8:57.

The tournament is broadcast from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on ESPN.
