Rishabh Pant failed but Abhishek Porel worked wonders and scored 25 runs in the last over; Punjab gets target of 175

On March 23, the second match of IPL 2024 was played between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC). This match of both teams was played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Chandigarh. Punjab captain Shikhar Dhawan had decided to bowl first after winning the toss. The Punjab bowlers bowled very hard especially in the last five overs. The bowling variations of Harshal Patel and Arshdeep constantly evaded the Delhi batsmen but the final over proved to be very costly for Punjab. Delhi scored 174 runs first.

Delhi Capitals achieved a respectable result

David Warner and Mitchell Marsh started the innings for Delhi Capitals. Marsh in particular encountered limitations right from the start. He played an innings of 20 runs in 12 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes. He appeared to be in good contact but was caught in the short half. Warner also got off to a good start but also returned to the pavilion after scoring 29 runs in 21 balls. Harpreet Brar bowled very narrowly for Punjab but other bowlers continued to hit fours and sixes. Meanwhile, Shay Hope also contributed 33 runs in 25 balls but couldn’t play a big innings.

Rishabh Pant returned to the field after recovering from an injury but he struggled right from the start. It was difficult for him to get the ball to middle and in the end Pant was evaded by a short, slow bowled ball from Harshal Patel. Pant also hit two fours in his 18-run innings off 13 balls. The bat of Axar Patel also appeared to be in very good condition, who played an innings of 21 runs off 13 balls but lost his wicket after being run out. Punjab’s bowling was excellent in the final overs but Harshal Patel conceded 25 runs to Abhishek Porel in the last over. With this, Delhi’s innings ended at 174 runs in 20 overs.
