Reynaldo López strikes out and wins with the White Sox

Luis Robert hit his first home run of the season, a tiebreaking shot in the sixth inning, and the Chicago White Sox beat the Seattle Mariners 3-2 on Tuesday night.

The White Sox won their season opener at home and extended their winning streak to three.

Cuban Robert homered off Matt Brash (0-1), a 23-year-old right-hander making his Major League debut.

Seattle lost its third straight game after starting with two wins. The Mariners have scored 10 runs. Only Baltimore (six) and Milwaukee (nine) started the night with fewer scores.

The Mariners went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Jesse Winker had a two-out RBI single in the ninth off Liam Hendriks, who struck out Mitch Haniger on three pitches for his first save.

Reynaldo Lopez (1-0) relieved left-hander Bennett Souza and struck out for the win.

For the Mariners, the Venezuelans Eugenio Suárez 4-2 with a run scored and an RBI, Luis Torrens 4-0.

For the White Sox, the Cubans Robert 3-1 with two runs scored and one RBI, José Abreu 3-1, Yasmani Grandal 4-1. The Dominicans Eloy Jiménez 4-0 with an RBI, Leury García 3-0.
