Review Blackview Tab 13: the best quality-price tablet for less than €200

Finding a tablet is not an easy task. There are many options on the market, and since it is often a secondary device, casual users want to pay as little as possible. If your goal is to pay less than €200 for a tablet, the Blackview Tab 13 may be your option.

During the last week I had the opportunity to try this tablet as a device for daily use, and in this review I will tell you my opinion about it. Let’s get to know this tablet focused on quality-price better?

Unboxing Blackview Tab 13

It’s hard to find a richer unboxing experience than you get with this Blackview Tab 13. It’s just that in the box you’ll find basically everything you need in terms of accessories.

We find the tablet, the USB-A to USB-C cable and the 10W charger, and there is also a tool to insert or remove the SIM or micro SD cards. But additionally we have a tempered glass for the screen, even a protective TPU case that protects the tablet in its entirety, and also works as a support for it.

It’s hard to ask for more in terms of accessories available in the box for a tablet in this price range. And it shows that small gestures make a difference, and that users will not have to spend more on basic accessories for the product.

My take on the Blackview Tab 13

Design and build quality.

Blackview is best known for developing rugged smartphones. The Blackview Tab 13 does not fall into this segment, having a very common design for what is expected of a tablet. It is lightweight, weighing only 450g and 7.7mm thick.

It is a well built product with an aluminum alloy back. This also makes it more resistant to falls. Because, as I said above, it comes with tempered glass to put on the screen and a protective case.

Good resolution screen with TÜV Rheinland certification

The screen is the most important component of a tablet, in my opinion. Since this is a device mainly used for multimedia consumption, the panel must be of good quality.

In this Blackview Tab we have a 10.1-inch IPS LCD panel, with a resolution of 1200 by 1980 pixels. The margins are normal for a tablet in this segment, and the device manages to reproduce a good viewing experience.

Whether consuming a series, a movie, watching a football match or playing a game, you can count on a proper viewing experience. The refresh rate sits at 60 Hz and the brightness at 300 nits, so that’s something to keep in mind.

It should be noted that it has the TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification. This makes for an easy-to-use screen to use safely or for younger ones in low-light conditions. To this you can add dark mode and reading mode for better results.

Decent audio with stereo speakers

The Blackview Tab 13 has two speakers for a stereo experience. They are decent speakers for this price range, to consume some content or listen to music. But don’t expect anything extraordinary.

It’s good to note that this tablet doesn’t have a 3.5mm jack, which is getting more and more expensive. So if you want to use headphones, you’ll have to stick to fully wireless models that work via Bluetooth.

Quite acceptable performance for the price.

The Blackview Tab 13 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 processor and accompanied by 6 GB of RAM (plus 4 virtual) and 128 GB of internal storage. This gives you adequate performance for basic and low-level users.

It is a tablet that you can use with ease to investigate, browse social networks or watch your favorite series. And while it doesn’t lag behind games like Pokémon GO, Asphalp 9, or Subway Surfers that I’ve tried, it’s not the most powerful device.

There are a few hiccups navigating the interface here and there, but nothing special for what’s in this price range. It is a tablet that does not back down from any task, and that is worth mentioning.

It should be noted that the storage can be expanded via microSD up to 1 TB. Furthermore, you can also put a SIM card in the device and enjoy mobile data wherever you go.

Interface with ‘garbage’ but has PC Mode

The Blackview Tab 13 has an interface called Doke OS 3.0 based on Android 12. It’s a relatively slick interface, but the device comes with some unnecessary apps pre-installed that help keep its cost down. Most of them can be uninstalled. It also has face unlock.

Still in this field, it is necessary to highlight the PC mode. It is basically a kind of Samsung DeX, which puts your Blackview Tab 13 with a Windows-like interface, and gives you the ability to use multiple windows at once. This is the ideal interface if you want to use the tablet for productivity and add a keyboard and/or mouse to it.

Cameras on a tablet? don’t be that person

Cameras are a very minor factor on a tablet, and no one wants to be that person who takes pictures in public with a tablet. But they are there and we have to talk about them. Behind it we have a 13 MP main camera and a 0.3 MP secondary camera and it produces decent results as you can see below. Basically, it’s good for something occasional.

The front camera is 8 MP, and it will serve you for your video calls without any problem. As you can see in the example below, it’s nothing out of this world, but it will be enough for them to see.

Battery that never runs out

This is one of the fields where the Blackview Tab 13 dominates. With a 7280 mAh battery, it will last you through a full day of use without any problems. Or two or three days if you use it sporadically. It promises up to 1080 hours of standby time, which is impressive. The charge is somewhat slow, so the ideal is to charge it overnight.

Top quality-price

The Blackview Tab 13 is a true master of value for money. Due to the satisfactory screen and sound, the possibility of inserting a SIM or microSD card, PC Mode and with a cover and tempered glass included in the box, it is difficult to ask for something better. It is a 10/10 in this field.

Conclusion on the Blackview Tab 13

For its segment, the Blackview Tab 13 offers a good number of interesting features. Its screen is of good quality to consume streaming, and it has stereo speakers for greater immersion.

It has a battery that, although it charges slowly, provides enough autonomy for a long day of use. The performance is quality in games like Asphalt 9, Pokemon or Subway Surfers, but don’t expect anything better.

As you’d expect from a product of this price, it comes with a few pre-installed apps, most of which you can uninstall. It comes with Android 12 out of the box and don’t expect a great future in terms of updates. It also doesn’t have a 3.5mm jack input, but that’s nothing Bluetooth headphones can’t fix.

It should be noted that it arrives with basically everything you need in the box. In addition to the charger and charging cable, it comes with a tempered glass film and a cover that protects the entire tablet and works as a support to place it on a surface. It is a tablet that costs more than €200 in Portugal. But if you buy it on the Hekka website, you have access to a more advantageous price.

In this global version of Blackview Tab 13, you can have it for only €183.63 on the date of writing. But if you use the unique code “HECTAB13“, the price will be only €169.63. Shipments to Portugal are free, and the price already includes tax expenses so you don’t have any problems with customs. The shipment will reach you within 7 to 13 business days.
