Real Madrid Defender Carvajal Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery, Sidelined Months

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal will be sidelined for an estimated one and a half to two and a half months after undergoing successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.

The Spanish international’s absence follows his participation in Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the La Liga ‘Clásico’ on Sunday. He completed the entire match, entering in the 72nd minute as a substitute for Federico Valverde. Carvajal reported knee discomfort after the final whistle.

The club confirmed Tuesday that the surgery was successful.

Real Madrid did not provide an official recovery timeline. However, club sources indicated to EFE that his return is not expected for at least 6-10 weeks.
