Rays cut bad streak, with victory over Orioles, Francisco Mejía 4-4

Harold Ramirez broke the tie with a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning and the Tampa Bay Rays snapped a four-game losing streak with a 7-6 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night.

Dominican Francisco Mejía added four hits, the most in his career, while Cuban Yandy Díaz contributed three.

Diaz also walked Dillon Tate (0-3) with one out in the ninth inning. Ji-Man Choi followed with a single and Tate hit Randy Arozarena with a pitch on two strikes to load the bases.

Colombian Ramírez’s fly ball gave the Rays the lead. Colin Poche resolved the bottom of the ninth episode to get the fourth save from him.

Calvin Faucher (1-1) pitched a perfect eighth inning for his first career win, a day after suffering the loss.

For the Rays, the Dominicans Manuel Margot 5-1 with a run scored and two RBIs, Francisco Mejía 4-4 with a run scored. Cubans Díaz 4-3 with three runs scored, Arozarena 4-1. The Colombian Ramírez 4-2 with RBI tees. The Mexican Isaac Paredes 4-0.

For the Orioles, Venezuelans Anthony Santander 5-2 with a run scored and an RBI, Robinson Chirinos 4-3 with four RBIs, Rougned Odor 2-0. Dominican Jorge Mateo 4-0.
