Jose Ramirez doubled for his eighth game with an extra-base hit on Thursday, and the Cleveland Guardians matched their season high by posting their fourth win, this time 4-2 over the Colorado Rockies.
Ramírez hit a ground ball to the opposite field and the ball stayed glued to the third line, against a defensive movement that seemed exaggerated by the Rockies in the first inning.
The last major league player to have eight extra-base hits in eight straight games was Cincinnati’s Joey Votto in 2020.
Amed Rosario extended his hitting streak to 10 games with an RBI single that capped a three-run attack in the third inning. He is 18-for-42 (.429) during the streak and went 6-for-13 with three extra-base hits during the three-game series at Coors Field.
Triston McKenzie (4-5) gave up one run over six innings. He allowed seven hits, struck out six and walked one.
For the Guardians, the Dominicans Rosario 3-1 with two RBIs, Ramírez 4-1, Óscar González 4-0. The Venezuelan Andrés Giménez 2-1 with a run scored.
For the Rockies, Venezuelan Yonathan Daza 3-0. Cuban Jose Iglesias 4-0.
