Rahm reaches 40 weeks at number one, 33 in a row

Jon Rahm continues one more week as number one in the world golf ranking (and there are already 40, 33 in a row) after neither the Spaniard nor his pursuers competed in the Honda Classicin which Sepp Straka became the first Austrian to win a tournament on the American circuit.

Rahm, who will return to action this weekend at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, in Bay Hill (Orlando), accumulates 8.89 points on average, compared to 8.38 for the American Collin Morikawa and 7.39 for the also American Patrick Cantlay, who closes the podium ahead of the Norwegian Viktor Hovland (7.14) and the Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy (6.07). The only novelty in the ‘top 10’ of the classification is the access to said group of the Australian Cameron Smith and the drop to eleventh place of Hideki Matsuyama.

The Mexican Abraham Ancer and the Chilean JoaquĂn Niemann dropped one place and are nineteenth and twenty-first; and the Spanish Sergio GarcĂa, who will also return in the Arnold Palmer, improves one and is forty-eighth. Straka’s victory in the Honda Classic allows him to climb almost a hundred positions. He goes from position 176 to 83, which causes the decline of players such as the Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas (87), the Spanish Adri Arnaus (89) and the Chilean Mito Pereira (93).
