Quartararo is the seventh champion with Yamaha

After the embarrassment experienced last year in the ranks of Yamaha, with disqualification in the MotoGP classifications of the Constructors and Teams championships, for cheating, and the problems experienced this year in his relationship with Maverick Viñales, to the point that pears broke out with the season underway, came the joy of seeing Fabio Quartararo crowned champion at the Emilia Romagna GP. This is the seventh time that a pilot from the house of tuning forks, champion in the queen class and the first French champion in history in the maximum category, has joined his name with that of very illustrious pilots in this sport.

Quartararo already eats at the same table as Giacomo Agostini, who won the last of his eight 500cc titles with Yamaha, who Kenny Roberts (three titles), Eddie lawson (three titles before getting the fourth on a Honda), Wayne rainey (three titles), Valentino rossi (four titles after three with Honda) and Jorge Lorenzo (three titles).

No wonder Lin Jarvis, Yamaha’s top GGPP manager told AS after the success of his rider that “the goal is to keep Quartararo at Yamaha for many years.” He is only 22 years old and has a spectacular future ahead of him, as well as a wonderful present in which a MotoGP title already shines.
