Amman: 5 people died and 14 were injured when a building collapsed in the Jordanian capital.

According to details, authorities in Jordan have said that a four-story residential building has collapsed in the capital Amman, as a result of which five people died and fourteen were injured.

Prime Minister Dr. Bishr al-Khasawneh has asked the mayor of Oman to report the incident and ask him to investigate the cause of the demolition. Security spokesman Amir al-Saratawi said in a statement on Tuesday that there were casualties after a building collapsed in the city’s Jabal al-Waibadah district.

Talking to state TV, he said that Civil Defense Forces, along with teams of Regional Security Command and Police Force are engaged in the rescue operation.

According to Al Jazeera, the area is known for its cafes, bars and arts venues, popular with both expats and locals alike.

According to a source from the Civil Defense Service, several people are still trapped in the collapsed building.

It was not immediately clear why the building collapsed, but official media said the building was old. .
