PSG coach and his son, arrested in investigation for racism

The coach of the Paris Saint-Germain, Christophe Galtier, and his son have been detained as part of an investigation into allegations of alleged racism in one of their former teams, Nice prosecutor Xavier Bonhomme told The Associated Press.

Galtier and his son, John Valovic-Galtier, were in police custody for questioning on Friday, Bonhomme said.

When the scandal broke at the beginning of the year, Galtier, who will leave the PSG bench but still has a valid contract, denied accusations that he had made racist comments and anti-Muslims when he was in charge of Nice.

RMC Sport and other French media published information in which they cited a leaked email from the former sporting director of NiceJulien Fournier, to the owners of the club in which he accused Galtier of saying that there were too many black and Muslim footballers on the squad.

In a statement sent by his lawyer to the French media, Galtier said that he remained “shocked to learn (the report) insulting and defamatory” and said it would take unspecified legal action.
