Egan Bernal continues to prepare for his main challenge of the season, which is the Tour de France. After finishing in the top 10 of the Tour of Hungary, he is ready to compete in Norway. Despite his youth, The Colombian has become a benchmark in world cycling and this was recognized by Davide Piganzoli, the Italian rider from Eolo Kometa who has not been professional for a long time and told the Bici.pro portal that it was very special to share the race with the INEOS rider.
Piganzoli started competing with Eolo Kometa in 2023 after the good results he obtained in the Under 23 category. He was fifth in the last Tour de l’Avenir, Italian time trial champion and tenth in the Giro Baby. In his first year in the cycling elite he managed to finish ninth in the Tour of Hungary where he shared with Egan Bernal and told how important it was to have him close.
“Actually finding yourself running alongside Hirschi and Bernal has a strange effect. Especially together with Egan who won the Giro and the Tour, in the Hungarian stages, however, I was ready to follow him. I also had the opportunity to speak with him before the start of the third stage. In the two previous splits we both collided and joked about the various bandages”, Piganzoli told Bici.pro.
Egan Bernal would go to Norway and Switzerland before the Tour de France
For now, there would be two more competitions that the Colombian from INEOS would have before reaching the Tour de France that will run from July 1 to 23. First he will be in the Tour of Norway that will start on Wednesday, May 24 and will go until Monday, May 29.. Then she would go to Switzerland to participate in the race that will take place in that country from June 11 to 18.
In 2023, Egan has participated in five competitions, in 3 he has been able to finish and he managed to be in the top 10 in 2 of them (Romandy and Hungary). Little by little he is regaining his level and these races will help him to reach the French round at a high level, his main challenge of the season.
