Professional League: Independiente played, fought and won in Córdoba

When it’s time to play Independent it was always better. And when it came to fighting, it was no less. In the two plans offered by the match in Córdoba, the Red showed positive responses. Because, In Leandro Stillitano’s first official match as technical director, his 1-0 win against Talleres was good with a goal against Angelo Martino in the second half. There were two expelled in the middle of the hot process: first Marcone in Independiente and then Martino in the Cordovan “T”.

At the minute, Independiente could have taken advantage. Marquez received on the edge of the big box and his left-footed shot went just to the side of the left post. And then he kept playing better. Or at least, making the ball run better against a Talleres with problems setting up the game on the sides and in the center.

Well established in the middle with Mulet and Marcone and with some brushstrokes from the youthful Pozzo and Márquez and the Ecuadorian Cazares, Red showed some of the ideas of his new coach Stillitano in terms of possession and movement of the ball at ground level and quickly. He should have won that first half. But a shot from Gimenez hit the right post and two shots from outside by Pozzo and Elizalde went just wide. Independiente was much more than Talleres that could never take the party’s hand.

The reward came after 6 minutes of the second stage: Márquez stepped on a ball from the left, enabled Costa and the center of the side, hit Martino and entered Herrera’s fence. Independiente seemed to be going through his prime. But five minutes later, Marcone was sent off and Stillitano delayed his team and sent them to hold. He did not even change his attitude when Talleres was also left with ten due to the red card that Martino received.
