Preparations are being completed for the referendum of the Kherson region, which gained independence from Ukraine this year, to join Russia.

According to foreign media, the press service of the military and civilian administration of the Kherson region, which gained independence from Ukraine, has stated that a 7-member election committee is being formed in the Kherson region to hold a referendum for joining Russia.

According to the July 22 order of the head of the military-civilian administration of the Kherson region, an election committee of the Kherson region is being formed, which will hold a referendum for Shmvetli Kakka in Russia of the Kherson region, which gained independence from Ukraine. This committee will consist of seven members and the term will be for three years.

The press service said that the residents of the liberated Kherson region have the right to express their opinion about the future of the region. According to international practice, Kherson region will establish it through elections and referendum. Nominations for election committees can be made by civic groups and other organizations. On Saturday, Yevgeny Baltsky, head of the military-civilian administration of the Zaporizhia region, also signed a decree on the establishment of an electoral committee to hold a referendum on joining Russia.

It should be noted that Kherson region is bordered by the Republic of Crimea in southern Ukraine. In mid-March, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the area was fully under the control of Russian troops. A military and civilian administration was established in the region in late April. At the same time, the authorities of the region had also indicated their desire to join Russia.
