Argentine Ambassador to the United States Gerardo Werthein, present at the meeting, emphasized that Musk wanted to help Argentina and that there was talk of “looking for opportunities” in the lithium production chain.
“We talked about the investment opportunities in Argentina in lithium and the importance of exploring and adding value to investments in lithium. We are deeply committed not only to exporting raw materials but also to creating added value. He said he wanted to help Argentina,” Werthein said.
“We agreed to work on this line and see what opportunities might arise for lithium and to process lithium in later cases, whether in batteries or in the production chain,” he added. The meeting also discussed government policies, the ideas of freedom, the work of entrepreneurs and the impact of demographics on world development.
Musk stressed the need to promote global birth rates and hold a possible congress in Argentina to talk about demographics, technology and economic growth, as well as the ideas of freedom. According to the delegation, Musk was very interested in participating and had accepted the invitation to Argentina. “We agreed to coordinate the moment and work on it,” explained Werthein.
For his part, presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni stressed that Milei and the businessman agreed on the need to liberate markets and defend the ideas of freedom, speaking “about the importance of eliminating bureaucratic obstacles that keep investors away” .
According to Adorni, Milei also offered Musk “collaboration in the conflict that the social network X is cultivating in Brazil within the framework of the legal and political conflict in that country.”
Although there are no concrete announcements, the Argentine government has highlighted the “harmony” between the two. “The chemistry that existed at the meeting is very difficult to describe. It was like two soulmates had come together. They agreed on all the points they raised, but each added their perspective on what makes them different people, each in their own category,” Werthein said.
