Registration for the 2026 Prague Marathon is surging, with nearly half of the 10,000 available spots already claimed for the May 3 event, highlighting its growing international appeal driven by a historic course and pioneering inclusive features.
The marathon, set to host its 31st edition, gained global attention for being the first worldwide to introduce a “Deaf Runner” bib, allowing hearing-impaired participants to be easily identified during the race. This initiative underscores a commitment to making the event accessible to all athletes.
The Prague Marathon carries the prestigious World Athletics Elite Label, affirming its status as a top-tier international running event. The race is scheduled for May 3, 2026, and will be broadcast internationally on the RunCzech YouTube channel, featuring commentary from expert Tim Hutchings.
The scenic 42-kilometer course begins and ends in the historic Old Town Square, guiding runners through iconic Prague landmarks. Participants will cross the Charles Bridge and pass the Wenceslas Square and Dancing House, with the Vltava River running alongside much of the route and Prague Castle visible in the background.
The course is largely flat, with only minor inclines, making it appealing to a wide range of runners. The event also promises a festive atmosphere, with 19 entertainment stages positioned along the route to cheer on athletes.
Comprehensive medical support is a cornerstone of the event, with aid stations strategically placed every 2.5 kilometers. This ensures prompt assistance for runners throughout the challenging race.
Beyond the main marathon, the program includes several shorter races designed for various age groups and abilities. These include the Active Breakfast Run in Letná Park, the dm family mile, and the dm bambini run. A Junior Marathon also offers local students the unique opportunity to run alongside the main marathoners.
Registration for all races remains open and can be completed via the event’s official website.
