Portugal’s U-23 women’s national football team secured a 1-1 draw against England on Monday, marking their second consecutive competitive result during an ongoing training camp.
The stalemate against England followed a similar 1-1 draw against France, highlighting Portugal’s competitive form against established European football nations.
Nádia Bravo opened the scoring for Portugal in the eighth minute of the match.
England’s Keira Barry equalized for the home side in the 56th minute.
The match was held at Sixfields Stadium in Northampton. Portugal, under the guidance of coach Ricardo Tavares, delivered a quality performance in the first half.
Nádia Bravo had an additional opportunity to extend Portugal’s lead. England, however, also created significant danger, hitting the crossbar once and later the post, and forcing a crucial save from Portuguese goalkeeper Catarina Potra.
The English equalizer came from a transition play in the second half.
