Pogacar's imperial streak since his defeat in the Tour de France

“Being formed by living matter and electronic devices.” It is the definition that the RAE gives to the word ‘cyborg’, a term that could well be applied to the dominator and number one in world cycling in the last two years: Tadej Pogacar. With his crisis in Granon in the last Tour de France, the Slovenian made it clear that he is human, that it is not infallible, but now there are reasons to doubt this condition again. And it is that since that painful disappointment, pogi has brought out his more cannibalistic version to, practically, win everything that is put before him (See table).

In total, of the 14 days of competition completed since the end of the last Big Boucle (withdrew in the Clásica de San Sebastián), Pogacar accumulates a whopping 8 victories, of which he chained five consecutively. The sequence is as follows since mid-September: 1st in the Montreal GP, 6th in the World Time Trial, 19th in the World Championship, 2nd in the Giro de Emilia, 1st in the Tres Valles Varesinos, 1st in the Giro de Lombardy, 1st in the Clásica Jaén and three stages of the Tour of Andalusia plus the general classification. Without a doubt, the best start to the season of his entire sports career.

Curiously, His best start to the course so far was in 2020, when at the end of February he accumulated four victories: two stages and the general of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, plus a partial success of the UAE Tour (general that Adam Yates beat him). He will no longer compete until March, when he will try to revalidate his title at the Strade Bianche (March 4), so the five victories achieved this year, all in Spain, are his best mark in the first two months of the calendar. Curiously, 12 of the 51 victories that appear in his record are on Spanish soil, so Spain is the country where he has added the most successes the Slovenian: three stages in La Vuelta, those mentioned in the Valencian Community, the Itzulia stage and the five corresponding to 2023. Come back soon, Tadej.
