Peter Sagan tests positive for coronavirus again

Peter Sagan’s start to the 2022 season has turned into a nightmare for the three-time world champion in just five days road cycling, in which the only good news for him has been to wear the colors of TotalEnergies, his new team after losing prominence at the Bora-Hansgrohe.

After knowing the cancellation of the Vuelta a San Juan, a race in which Sagan had planned to start his season, this Tuesday the runner himself announced through his social networks that he has tested positive for COVID-19. “My brother Juraj and I have been tested for COVID-19 and, unfortunately, we have tested positive. We have symptoms related to the virus and we are following the corresponding guidelines established by the authorities. I will keep you informed.”Sagan revealed.

It is not the first time that Sagan and his brother Juraj have been infected with COVID-19, since in February of last year they contracted the virus during a concentration in Gran Canaria. A fact that had repercussions in the preseason and in the preparation of Peter Sagan, since he could not compete in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and the Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne. Now Sagan must return to quarantine while reorganizing his calendar for 2022 after the cancellation of the Vuelta a San Juan and being able to debut with the colors of TotalEnergies.
