Nate Diaz Sues Fanmio for $9 Million Over Unpaid Fight Purse
Californian Nate Diaz has announced that he will sue Fanmio, the company that organized his fight with Jorge Masvidal, for a total of $9 million. The agreement for the fight closed at $10 million, with $1 million to be collected before the match and the rest after the match. However, Diaz is still waiting for the remaining amount.
Diaz claims that Solomon Engel, CEO of Fanmio, is trying to file for bankruptcy to avoid paying the amount owed. This has led to Jake Paul, a YouTuber and boxer, inserting himself into the situation.
Jake Paul Digs into Nate Diaz’s Wound
Jake Paul, who defeated Diaz in a fight on August 5, 2023, has offered him almost double the amount owed for a new fight under PFL rules. Paul made the offer in a recent tweet, saying, "I guess you’re taking the $15 million PFL a little more seriously now, t***. (…) Oh, and Masvidal, you’re broke and can’t sell sht."
In a press release, Diaz stated that Engel responded to his demands by saying that if he paid Diaz what was owed, he would go bankrupt, leading to divorce from his wife due to the constant losses he is subjected to. Diaz is seeking not only to record the breach of contract but also to sue Engel for fraud.
The fight with Masvidal was Diaz’s second professional fight as a boxer, following a successful MMA career with a record of 21 wins and 13 losses. Paul, on the other hand, has 10 fights as a professional with 9 wins and only one loss. He is waiting for the date of his fight against Mike Tyson, announced for November 15, 2024, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
