Patriotic Games in Puerto Rico will have 500 athletes in eight disciplines

Juegos Patrios en Puerto Rico contarán con 500 atletas en ocho disciplinas

More than 500 athletes in eight disciplines will be participating starting this Friday in the XVI Patriotic Games in Puerto Rico, with the support of the San Juan Mayor’s Office, the Dominican Consulate in that capital, the Institute of Dominicans Abroad and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec).

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 5 pm in the Villa Navárez Park in San Juan, with the presence of Mayor Miguel Romero; the Dominican consul in the Puerto Rican capital, César Cedeño; Vice Chancellor Carlos de la Mota; the Dominican Vice Minister of Sports, Kennedy Vargas, and the president of the Dominican Sports Union in Puerto Rico, Carlos Hernández (Dichoso).

Vargas will represent the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Francisco Camacho, who has given his full support for the success of the event.

The Patriotic Games, in which Dominican athletes residing in Puerto Rico compete, will take place in the disciplines of chess, basketball, baseball, softball, judo, karate and taekwondo, as well as dominoes.

The events will be held at the sports facilities in San Juan, Bayamón, Río Piedras, Carolina, Puerto Nuevo and Guaynabo.

The competitions will be part of the Sixth Zone qualifiers for the 2024 National Sports Games.
