A woman in her sixties was arrested Tuesday, August 24 in Liévin (Pas-de-Calais) after having stolen the property of a deceased at the funeral home.
The woman had passed herself off to the family as a friend of a deceased woman who was resting in a burial chamber. Nevertheless, the relatives noted the disappearance of a jewel on their return to the meditation room.
The latter have, according to France Blue, alerted the police who immediately arrested the sexagenarian. On her, the police found a chain and a pendant.
They also got hold of a wallet from another deceased that was lying in another room in the facility.
An organized search
During the search of the woman’s home, investigators got their hands on death notices as well as access codes provided to families so that they come to meditate outside of opening hours.
She will be summoned to court in April next year.
