March is ending with a big astronomical event. On the 29th, a partial solar eclipse happened. People in the peninsula could see it from 11:30 to 11:45.

Astronomers Call It a “Horned Sun”

This phenomenon is not official, but it’s a graphic way to describe something curious. When the moon covers part of the sun, it looks like horns or a canoe.

People wonder if they can see this “horned sun” from certain places. The answer is no, at least not in some areas. The solar eclipse happens at sunrise in North America, but in Europe, it’s during the morning.

The Best View

The best place to see this is in Quebec, Canada. From there, you can see over 93% of the sun covered by the moon at sunrise. Another great spot is the border between the US and Canada, near Maine and New Brunswick. According to LiveScience, this area has “spectacular views” of the astronomical event.
