Parents who leave children alone in the car in the UAE beware

Abu Dhabi: Parents who leave children alone in the car in the United Arab Emirates will be fined.

Abu Dhabi Police has again warned residents not to leave children in cars unattended as the practice can be tragic and deadly.

Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate Director Captain Mohammed Hamad Al Issai said leaving children unattended in vehicles is particularly dangerous during the summer months and is punishable under the UAE’s strict child rights law.

He said children of any age should never be left unattended in a vehicle. Not only could they suffocate to death within minutes, but they could also play with the transmission and controls.

Mohammad Hamad added that leaving children alone is a crime punishable by law.

He said that the citizens who do not implement the law will be fined at least 5 thousand dirhams and may also be jailed.
