A horrific scene unfolded in Italy during a sub-17 match.
Players from RSC Riposto surrounded and brutally attacked 19-year-old referee Diego Alfonzetti.
The assault included kicks and punches.
Other people, including fans, stormed the field without permission.
Diego Alfonzetti was forced to defend himself.
He was later escorted off the field for his own safety.

The judge handed down severe penalties.
RSC Riposto is banned from next season’s championship.
Players received suspensions, some until 2030.
Anastasi Maurizio, RSC Riposto’s coach, got a lighter sentence.
He’s suspended until May 2025 for protecting the referee.
