Panama beats Colombia 6-5 and gets its first win

The combination of the Federales de Chiriquí, representative of Panama (1-1), obtained their first victory this Friday by narrowly defeating the Vaqueros de Montería, representing Colombia (1-1), six rounds by five, in the first clash of the second day of the “65 of the Simple TV Caribbean Series Gran Caracas 2023”, which was held at the La Rinconada stadium.

The match was won by pitcher Harold Osvaldo Arauz, while Julio César Vivas Colmenares took the loss.

Arauz worked 6.0 innings, allowed six hits, three runs, two walks, and struck out three. Abdiel José Mendoza also worked. He was charged with the failure Julio César Vivas.

In the offense for the winners, Enrique Orlando Valdez shone with a hit and drove in two runs, Ariel Sandoval dispatched a run-scoring home run, Iván Aaron Valdez and Erasmo Caballero each had a hit.

Then, in the seventh, Panama expanded the scoring when Rodrigo Orozco hit the infield and Michael Wielansky hit a two-run homer to center field to make it 6-3.

The Federales of Chiriquí defeated Atlánticos de Bocas del Toro and Colón in the final in Panama in three games to be the representative of Panama.

This is the first title for the Chiriquí team in Panamanian winter ball.

While the Vaqueros de Montería team is the representative of Colombia after they defeated Tigres de Cartagena 7-4 in the fifth game of the Colombian professional baseball final.

Colombia added two more in the seventh, thanks to Fernando Acuña’s RBI double and Gustavo Campero’s single, making it 6-5.
