Karachi. Pakistan has rested veteran spinner Imad Wasim and aggressive hitter Asif Ali for the first T20 International against Bangladesh to be held in Mirpur on Friday. Senior hitter Mohammad Hafeez has also been left out of the 12-man squad announced Thursday for the opener of the three-game T20I series. Hafeez decided to withdraw from the tour. Imad, Asif and Hafeez were part of the game XI in every match during the T20 World Cup. The Pakistan team leadership, however, decided not to give their top fast pitchers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf a break.

Young fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr has also been included in the team. Bangladesh has eliminated veteran players Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Kumar Das, Rubel Hossain, Soumya Sarkar from the squad for the series, while Shakib Al Hasan and pacemaker Saifuddin are unavailable due to fitness issues. Veteran starter Tamim Iqbal, who missed the World Cup due to a thumb injury, has yet to recover from the injury. All three matches will be played at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. The second game will take place on November 20 and the third on November 22.
