Óscar Palomo will race with Hyundai

The European champion gives the jump to the ‘queen category’. After winning the ERC4 category title in the continental contest last year, in 2023 Óscar Palomo will drive a Hyundai i20 Rally2 in the Spanish Championship. At 20 years old, the Madrid pilot climbs a step and claims to be one of the strongest promises of Spain.

Palomo’s career has been meteoric. After a brilliant start in karting (where he was champion of Spain) and car cross, he made the leap to rallying when he still did not have a license, at the age of 16. He quickly showed his worth, prevailing in the Junior Scholarship in 2021, which gave him the passport to the European Championship. And in his first participation in the same took the title in ERC4 after a close duel that lasted until the last section.

Now comes the time to take the leap, and will compete in 2023 with a Hyundai i20 Rally2 like the one you gave the national title last year to Pepe López. In the case of Palomo, it will be maintained by the Portuguese team Sport&You, which is the one with which they won the continental championship last year. In addition, the operation has the blessing and support of Hyundai Motorsport, something that opens the way to greater goals.

“I am very happy that a brand like Hyundai trust me for this 2023 season”, explained Palomo. “It gives me a lot of confidence and motivation to continue working as we have been doing up to now and to be able to achieve the results we want. I am sure that this opportunity will make me continue learning as an athlete and as a person and for that reason We are going to take advantage of it one hundred percent and enjoy what we like”.
