Orioles hit 4 homers and beat the Blue Jays

Ramon Urias hit a three-run homer in the first inning, Anthony Santander, Ryan Mountcastle and Austin Hays also homered as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-4 on Monday.

The Orioles, who started the day two games behind Seattle and Tampa Bay that have two of the AL wild cards, moved within three of Toronto with the top wild card. This is the first of 15 remaining meetings between the Blue Jays and Orioles.

Baltimore starter Jordan Lyles (9-8) gave up a home run in the third to Cavan Baggio, but the Orioles responded in the bottom of the inning with back-to-back singles by Santander and Mountcastle for a 5-1 lead.

Matt Chapman homered in the sixth for Toronto, but Hays answered with another down the bottom.

The Blue Jays scored twice in the eighth, but Felix Bautista came on and retired Whit Merrifield on a two-out groundout with two men on.

For the Blue Jays, the Dominicans, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 5-1, Teoscar Hernández 5-1 and Ramiel Tapia 4-3 with an RBI.

For the Orioles, the Venezuelan Santander 3-2 with a run scored and an RBI, Rougned Odor 1-0. Mexican Urías 4-1 with one run scored and three RBIs. Dominican Jorge Mateo 3-1.
