OPPO took advantage of its presence at MWC 2022 to announce a new fast charging technology for its smartphones. We are introduced to a new SuperVOOC charging standard that will reach 150W charging speeds.
After the announcement of the technology, data arrives that point to the first models to support this load. According to Android Central, the OnePlus Nord 3 will be one of the early adopters of this fast charging technology.
OnePlus Nord 3 will arrive in the second quarter of 2022
Sources with privileged access to OnePlus plans gave this information to the aforementioned publication. The latter is quite confident in the veracity of such claims, pointing out other details that support this belief.
It is also anticipated that the next OnePlus Nord 3 will be based on the Realme GT Neo 3. Regarding the latter, Realme has already confirmed its launch in the next quarter with a fast charge of 150 W.
It is not strange that these brands share technologies. OnePlus, OPPO and Realme belong to the same business conglomerate, BBK Electronics, and they often share various technologies between their products.
OnePlus has also already revealed the development of a new device with this 150 W charging technology. However, the brand did not reveal which model will be covered, leaving the question on this subject.
What does the 150W SuperVOOC technology offer?
Announced yesterday within the framework of MWC 2022, this fast charging technology represents a new milestone for OPPO teams. It will also be one of the fastest charging speeds currently available on the tech market.
Taking a 4500 mAh cell as an example, Chinese technology claims that this technology will be fully charged in just 15 to 17 minutes. With just five minutes of charging it will be possible to reach 50% of the battery in question.
Aware of the pressure that these charging speeds put on batteries, OPPO has also put in place a prevention mechanism. The Smart Battery Health algorithm promises to retain 80% of the battery health even after 1,600 full charge cycles.
