Six people including Prashant Kumar Halder alias PK Halder arrested on the charge of embezzlement and smuggling of tens of thousands of crores of rupees will be produced in Kolkata’s City Sessions Court (Bankshal) on July 4.
On Wednesday, the case came up before the special CBI Court-3 judge Shubhendu Sahar. The accused were brought to the court around 11 am. But advocate Biswajit Manna filed an attachment petition for the accused. The petition seeks postponement of the hearing of the suit. After hearing the RGs of both the parties, the next date of hearing was fixed on July 4.
At present, 5 people including the accused PK Halder are in Kolkata Presidency Jail and the only female accused is in Alipore Central Jail.
According to the sources of ‘Enforcement Directorate’ (ED), the agency investigating this much-discussed case, PK Haldar was arrested on May 14, 2022 from Vedic Village, Board House 15, Greentech City, Rajarhat, West Bengal.
Besides, 5 more associates of PK Halder were arrested in various places of West Bengal. The arrested persons are Pranesh Halder, Swapan Mistry alias Swapan Maitra, Uttam Mistry alias Uttam Maitra, Imam Hossain alias Imon Halder and Amana Sultana alias Sharmi Halder.
Later on May 21 of that year, ‘Money Laundering Act-2002’ was filed against them.
