Now there is a tidal wave in the Lakers

In the absence of LeBron James, who will continue to be out for at least twenty more days, any game that is played by the Lakers’ rivals becomes a ballot. And the Timberwolves had an important one because it is one of the direct rivals in the fight that continues to occupy the last access places to playoffs. If any other absence is added, in this case it was not that of Anthony Davis but that of D’Angelo Russell, everything is more dramatic for the opponents. We have to win. The Angelenos had won three of the four games after the All-Star and made everything more complicated. For Finch’s men it was an exercise in pushing as hard as possible and passing the drink, but it came true and they left the Crypto Arena with a victory that left them breathing.

Davis he was on his own this time, with no miracles from Schröder (3/13) or Reaves (2/8). The interior scored 38 points in 32 minutes. He did little against Gobert (22) or Reid (15), safe in the shot and with more elements to hurt the opponent. Everything ended in a 102-110 that puts the Wolves in positive, with a qualifying balance of 33-32, and that makes them win two of the three games scheduled for the course against the Lakers and make history: it is the first time of their life in the NBA that they are going to win a season duel against one of the teams from Los Angeles.

The Californian team entrusted itself to the good collective work of the last games, which we have already highlighted in this space that have become an extra engine to seek a classification that became complicated, and to the changes in the roster which took place a few weeks ago. Curiously, he was one of the derivatives of the Westbrook transfer who was previously in the Jazz, and not D’Angelo or Vanderbilt but Mike Conley, the one who decided against him. It happened as it happened and the Lakers couldn’t handle the task this time. But, without winning, they are again favored by the mess in the West: the Wolves take advantage and are seventh, but the Jazz, Clippers and Pelicans, ahead of them, also lost and the ones who won were the Thunder, who They passed on Wednesday.

For those of Ham it was again a day of fighting with the outside pitches. That 32% success rate with only 10 hits in the triple weighed down too much. It was with the only two 3-pointers to his credit that Davis led in the fourth quarter. The Lakers, trailing from a clear third quarter led by Edwards (19), went all out with a 10-1 run in the decisive minutes. AD squared it off with his second 3-pointer and put his team within four at 4:12 and, after a shorter shot, within three at 1:34. Conley, repeating that 3+2 strategy, sentenced when the locals began to taste another comeback. In addition to the bad decisions of Schröder and Beasley, those who have the points in their hands playing as directors to replace Russell in office, we saw a duel between Davis and Gobert in which the Frenchman was the one from some time past, a torment in Defense: Forced Davis to six turnovers. As it happened in the loss against the Grizzlies, again other results appease very bad news for the Lakers. There is little margin in LA and, as their coach emphasizes, they do not feel “that urgency”.
