The England cricket team is concerned these days with the injury of many of its star players. At the same time, the series against Ireland before the next ashes, the team may receive another big blow. In fact, such information has come to light that a star player of the team can now decide to leave his country’s team and play regularly for another team. This is because information about the cancellation of that player’s contract with his country has now come to light. This shocking information comes to light after a report from the Daily Mail.

It has been said in this report that Jason Roy, who played 116 ODIs and 64 T20 Internationals for England, may cancel his core contract with the England Cricket Board (ECB). Roy can make this decision before the next T20 Cricket League that will take place in the United States. Roy, who played a key role in England’s victory at the 2019 ODI World Cup, has been offered a two-year contract worth 3.06 crore rupees (£300,000) by the franchise of the USA T-League Los Angeles Knight Riders. Roy has decided to opt out of England’s core contract, knowing that the ODI World Cup will take place in India this year and he could be replaced.

First cricketer to withdraw from ECB core contract!

Jason Roy, who performed brilliantly while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2023, is currently part of ECB’s contract until October. But Roy can cancel his contract for the upcoming T20 league. If he does, he will become the first cricketer to be dropped from England’s core contract. It is worth noting that Jason Roy, who was an important part of the England team captained by Eoin Morgan, had great hitting in the 2019 World Cup. His leadoff batting played a big part in making England champions for the first time. But he did not make the squad for last year’s T20 World Cup.

How will the ECB give Roy NOC?

However, Roy was called up to the squad for the ODI series against Australia, South Africa and Bangladesh. He too performed well and scored a century against Bangladesh. For this reason, he was a contender for a place in the squad for the ODI World Cup. Major League Cricket in the US will coincide with the County Championship and T20 Blast. In such a situation, the ECB can grant NOC (No Objection Certificate) to Roy only if his then-issued October contract is cancelled.

Before Roy, stars like Aaron Finch, Quinton de Kock and Anrich Norkhia have also been signed by the LA Knight Riders. However, there is good news for Jason Roy, as it has been reported in the report that the ECB has clearly told him that his decision will not affect the next selection plan and then the new contract that he will get in October. Roy is a white ball cricketer and hasn’t played Tests since 2019 so based on upcoming tours the England team won’t play any white ball matches until September. After the Ashes, the team will play New Zealand and Ireland in August-September, by which time Roy could be back.

England cricket will have a big loss!

Prior to this news, there were some reports that Mumbai Indians (IPL franchise) had made a similar offer to Joffra Archer. Now Roy has received such an offer from the LA Knight Riders. The parent team of this group plays in the IPL under the name Kolkata Knight Riders. Whose property rights are held by actor Shah Rukh Khan and actress Juhi Chawla. There are four of the 6 such franchises in the Major League taking place this summer, whose main team is part of the IPL. These teams are offering Rs 3.06 crore. While in England’s The Hundred, players get only Rs 1.27 crore (£1.25 lakh). In such a situation, England cricket may suffer a bigger loss than this.
