Notre-Dame attack: a day dedicated to the memory of the victims

One year after the terrorist attack perpetrated in Nice on Thursday, October 29, 2020 in the Basilica of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption, which claimed the lives of three people, a day dedicated to the memory of the victims will be organized on Friday, October 29, 2021 .

At 8:45 am, all the bells in the churches of Nice will start ringing and a moment of meditation will take place in the administrations and services … At 5:00 pm, the work “La Colombe de la Paix” by the artist Théo Tobiasse, in homage to victims, will be unveiled by the families of the victims, in front of the Notre-Dame basilica. This sequence will be followed by a deposit of roses in front of “La Colombe de la Paix”.

At 5.30 p.m., a tribute will be celebrated in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption with the unveiling of the plaque in memory of the victims and the interpretation of a song by one of the children of a victim. A concert of organ and song by the Niçoise soprano Elizabeth Vidal, will be given before the mass celebrated by Monsignor André Marceau, at 7 p.m.

On Thursday, October 29, 2020, the suspected terrorist Brahim A. a 21-year-old Tunisian slaughtered with a knife two faithful Nadine Devillers (60 years), Simone Baretto-Silva (44 years) and the sacristan Vincent Loqués (55 years).

On December 7, 2020, the suspect was indicted for terrorist “assassinations” and imprisoned. Eleven people were taken into custody in this investigation, but they were released without prosecution.
